Scripture to Meditate on, Psalm 23

Category:Spiritual Tags :

1 ¶ « A Psalm of David. » The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” – Psalm 23:1-6.

Scripture to Meditate on, Genesis 50:20

Category:Spiritual Tags :

Genesis 50:15-21

15 And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him. 16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying, 17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. 18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. 19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? 20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. 21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

Verse 20 stands out, Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, a terrible horrible event. But look at what God did in the end. He saved the entire family from certain death.

Do not be troubled when people wrong you, or things do not go your way. Be patient and trust that the Lord may be at work in using the event in your life for some great good down yonder on your path in life. As I look back over the years of my life I can plainly see how the Lord did so for me and my family and friends.

Scripture to Mediate on, Psalm 12:6-7

Category:Spiritual Tags :

Psalm 12:6-7, “The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”

Here David pens with the Spirit’s inspiration (2 Timothy 3:16) the promise that the words of our Lord are first pure and second would be preserved forever. I believe the King James Bible is the preserved words spoken of here and stand on that fact BY FAITH.

We actually need every word of God to live Matthew 4:4, “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” So somewhere on earth we must have every Word of God.

The King James Bible for English speaking people is the sole basis for all we believe. It is complete and has all the answers to life’s questions that matter!

Scripture to Meditate on, Proverbs 3:5-6

Category:Spiritual Tags :

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

There are wrong paths we can walk down in life. Many a person has been destroyed by following their own path. So much better to have the Lord guide us in life. Trust him, walk in the paths He has shown us in the Word of God. You are in His word? I hope so!

Scripture to Meditate on, Matthew 6:19-21

Category:Spiritual Tags :

From my daily reading this morning we find this gem:

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21

So many people live their lives for money money money on earth! Never thinking of storing up treasure in heaven. Life on earth is short (James 4: 14, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”). Eternity is forever.

We store up treasure by being faithful to the Lord in our service and in our motives.

Scripture to Meditate on, Psalm 147:3

Category:Spiritual Tags :

From my daily Bible reading today…

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3

I have lived long enough to see this proved by our God. He has done it for me and he can and wants to do it for you. Have a broken heart? A friend let you down? Life tossed you a curveball? Sickness have you wounded? Then this promise is for you. Jesus came to the earth to heal the brokenhearted! In Luke 4:21 Jesus read the following and said that day it was he who fulfilled Isaiah 61:1.

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;” – Isaiah 61:1.

Turn to the Lord for healing when your heart is broken and you are wounded.

Scripture to Meditate on, Psalm 145:20

Category:Spiritual Tags :

From my Bible reading today…

“The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.” – Psalm 145:20

This one speaks for itself, no explanation needed.

Scripture to Meditate on, Zechariah 8:16-17

Category:Spiritual Tags :

From my daily reading today…

16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: 17 and let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.” – Zechariah 8:16-17

Hmmmm…. the Lord hates when we think evil of and mentally plan evil on our neighbors. Do you have unruly neighbors? Find a way to communicate truth to them, do good to them even if they do you wrong. Romans 12: 20 teaches, “Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.” Maybe instead of dishing back what bad things your neighbor does to you cut his grass, rake his leaves, send him a gift. You never know it just might open a door of communication for you to speak truth to him.

Scripture to Meditate on, Psalm 143:8

Category:Spiritual Tags :

“Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” – Psalm 143:8

As David cried out to the Lord we too should seek to hear the Lord each morning. Start your day out with the Word of God. You will find the loving kindness of God and know the right path to walk in life.

Scripture to Meditate on, Revelation 14:13

Category:Spiritual Tags :

From my daily reading today…

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them”. – Revelation 14-13

We must labour today for our Lord, the day will come when we can rest! That day for the saved born again Bible believer is the day we die. Notice our works can follow us to heaven, works we do for the Lord with the right motives (1 Corinthians 3:12-13) and (Romans 14:10-12).
